Linda will joining other North Yorkshire artists and be opening the doors of Old Church Studios as part of the NYOS event, so you can see what we have all been up to.
NYOS 2024 is happening over the first two weekends of June – June 1st and 2nd and June 8th and 9th.
Come and see how cloth is made. There will be demonstrations of hand spinning fibres into yarn, as well as weaving yarn into finished cloth. Sketchbooks illustrating the design process, working notebooks containing dye recipes and complex weaving notes explain the practical aspects of turning raw materials into a finished product. Plus there will be plenty of examples of hand dyed fibre, yarn and woven goods. In addition, you can try your hand at preparing and spinning wool from the sheep in the field next door (low transport cost for raw materials) or experience the delights of using a weaving loom. With plenty of fibres, yarns and cloth to squish, admire and stroke, this is a tactile as well as visual art form. Do come and visit.
