Mediterranean Winds Collection
Sirocco – a warm humid wind that blows from the south east across southern Europe and the northern Mediterranean coast. Originating in North Africa as a dry wind it picks up moisture as it crosses the Mediterranean Sea. Reflecting the hot desert sand and the deep blue of the Mediterranean, our Sirocco shawl brings together the deep dusk of a warm Mediterranean evening. All that’s missing is the glass of wine and the sound of the crickets.

Mistral – a strong, cold, north-westerly wind that blows from the Mediterranean in southern France through the valley of the Rhone, from Lyon to Marseille, affecting Provence and the Languedoc areas. Most common in the winter and spring, it is usually accompanied by the clear, fresh weather. Our Mistral Shawl reflects the ‘masterly’ meaning of its name, and is perfect for wrapping up warm and cosy during those blustery days between winter and spring.

Etesian – the strong, dry, summer winds of the Aegean Sea which blow north from mid-May to mid-September. Often strongest in the afternoon and dying down in the evening, these winds are both favoured and feared by sailors. Reflecting the myriad hues of the Aegean Sea, our Etesian Shawl is a luxurious reminder of the magic and myths of the Mediterranean.

Zephyr – a soft gentle warm and westerly breeze lasting until around the summer solstice in the Mediterranean. Bringing in the spring by melting the snow and delivering warm rain to encourage the flowers and trees to burst forth, our Zephyr shawl is perfect for those cooler evenings offering up it’s warmth and gentleness with a hint of sparkle.
